Parkinson’s
Parkinson’s is a condition in which part of the brain become progressively damaged over many years. The main symptoms of Parkinson’s are Tremor (involuntary shaking of particular parts of the body), slow movement and stiff and inflexible muscles. Difficulties with sleeping ie. Insomnia is also common with this condition so the need for a comfortable and motorised bed from Theraposture is vital.

Alzheimer’s
Similar to people living with Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson’s, individuals who have Alzheimer’s can enjoy a better quality of life with a motorised bed. Alzheimer’s is the most common type of Dementia and affects almost 500,000 people in the UK.
Other medical conditions
Theraposture assistive beds make life easier if you have the following conditions

Motor Neurone Disease (MND)
Motor Neurone Disease, also known as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), is a rare condition that progressively damages the nervous system. It causes motor neurones in the brain and spinal cord to stop working properly resulting in a progressive loss of muscle activity.

Stroke
Day-to-day living after experiencing a Stroke presents a variety of challenges dependent on the severity of the condition. Stroke can cause a range of problems including difficulties with movement and balance so access in and out of bed can be unsafe or sometimes impossible. Many people are left with muscle weakness or paralysis after a Stroke, commonly on one side, which may result in discomfort.

Oedema
Theraposture provides a range of adjustable beds that can help when living with Oedema. Oedema is the medical term for fluid retention in the body that causes affected tissue to become swollen. Commonly Oedema may also result in aches, tender limbs, stiff joints, weight gain and raised blood pressure.

Acquired Brain Injury
Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) can affect people in a variety of ways and in varying levels of severity. Disabilities can also vary in terms of time and complexity with appropriate rehabilitation being key to improving independence and quality of life. Using suitable assistive equipment at home will enhance day-to-day living as mobility is commonly restricted with a brain injury.

Spinal injury
Theraposture motorised beds can make life easier and provide greater independence following a spinal injury. Damage to the spinal cord results in a reduction or loss of movement and sensation below the level of the injury. This can be caused by trauma from an accident or as a result of infection or disease. Each type can either be ‘complete’ or ‘incomplete’ ie. the latter affecting both sides of the body.

Rheumatoid Arthritis
Rheumatoid Arthritis is a long-term condition that causes pain, swelling and stiffness in joints. The hands, feet and wrists are commonly affected, but it can also cause problems in other parts of the body. This means an assistive Leg Lifter, Chair Bed or adjustable bed such as those supplied by Theraposture can provide a solution to getting legs in and out of bed.
