Theraposture Ltd, the trusted market leading specialist in Rotating Assistive Beds, has delivered its latest educational session to Occupational Therapists from Brighton & Hove City Council.
Nick Lythe, Theraposture Trusted Assessor, has recently hosted the latest of these popular sessions by demonstrating the pioneering Orbit 235 bed to a group of OTs from Brighton & Hove City Council.
“Lunch and Learns” are free educational sessions provided by Theraposture, that inform and educate Healthcare Professionals regarding innovative solutions to everyday living challenges. These popular events are tailored to each group and allow those attending to try equipment, and to understand how they deliver significant cost savings and lasting positive outcomes.
This latest event featured the Orbit 235 Rotating bed from Theraposture. Delegates were invited to attend and were able to understand why this bed is so different to all other rotating beds.
Collectively, delegates were shown the extent of the personalisation that can be achieved with the Orbit 235, meaning that one bed can accommodate service users from 4’10” to 6’6”, weighing up to 31 stones. The Orbit can be individually configured (fitted) for each user, accommodating a huge range of shapes and sizes. This unique advantage means that it can be easily reconfigured and reissued, making it ideal for equipment services.
The event was promoted by Kevin Banfield, Independent Living Service (Housing, Care and Wellbeing) and he was delighted to welcome Nick Lythe to meet his team. Nick commented,
“The session was engaging and positive with an opportunity to get ‘hands on’ with the Orbit 235 rotational bed. This latest innovation represents a ‘game changing’ offering in assistive equipment as it offers an adaptable powered solution that get a wider range of individuals in and out of bed safely.”
Nick added,
“All the professionals I met today were very impressed with the Orbit 235, and there was a great sense of engagement and understanding resulting from the session. Following the presentation, we held a Q&A session which was useful for attendees and me as we discussed how the Orbit 235 is the answer for so many service users struggling with bed transfer. I look forward to delivering my next “Lunch and Learn” and would encourage all local authority OTs to book a free session, they are worthwhile and the team in Brighton left better informed.”
Theraposture provide a free lunch and refreshments and if required, a certificate of attendance to count towards CPD.

New for this year’s event
Theraposture will be displaying its Home and Away travel care cot. This cot has been developed for children who need safe surroundings at home or whilst travelling, such as those with severe Autism or challenging behaviour. This portable safe environment includes extensive padding with large windows for generous visibility and easy access for uncompromised care. The clever Home and Away design allows fast assembly and dis-assembly using strong zip and Velcro fastenings – hence repositioning is hassle-free. Each constituent section is lightweight so single-handed lifting and carrying is strain free and will fit in most standard cars.
If young users required more postural variety then powered functionality can be added to the sleeping surface such as height adjustment and/or profiling. Variable height provides extra safety for carers as the risk of back injury can be eliminated as the need to bend when providing support is greatly reduced. As with all Theraposture products, the new Home and Away cot is a tailor-made, hand crafted solution. Each cot is specifically designed to meet individual needs with a range of footprint, door and side sizes. Window configurations are flexible along with an impressive range of specialist mattresses for maximum user comfort and family peace of mind.
Alongside the Home and Away cot Theraposture will be displaying the latest version of its power-assisted Theracare Flex bed with 2-bar high sided rails and the ever-popular cost-effective Mascot Mk2 cot. The modular Mascot is the only truly future-proofed care cot that can be adapted to meet changing needs. This negates the need to purchase a new cot in the future so personal and public expenditure can be reduced. The Mascot, like the entire cot range from Theraposture, fully meets all relevant safety standards and come with a fully inclusive 3-year warranty. It is held in stock at Theraposture’s Wiltshire factory for fast delivery.
Liam Braddell, Theraposture Sales Director concludes:
“Kidz North is always a busy show for us as many healthcare professionals and families regard Theraposture as the considered choice. Our products are proven and trusted to deliver safety, comfort and durability that not only helps young disabled users, but benefits whole families and their carers. We look forward to showcasing our new Home and Away bed at EventCity for the first time and encourage all visitors to come and enjoy our free chocolates!”
