Theraposture has been an ethical and trusted bed specialist since 1981. Its ‘in-house’ Occupational Therapist (OT) and Trusted Assessors provide a comprehensive and clinically led assessment service to assist disabled children, families and therapists. This process provides an in-depth appraisal of each client’s needs, wants and risks. Part of this service includes the provision of free documented assessment reports which significantly benefit OTs – by providing key facts to assist with justification and clinical reasoning.
Theraposture Trusted Assessors work alongside OTs by providing knowledgeable assistance through their experience and understanding. Theraposture’s range of market-leading height adjustable and profiling specialist sleeping solutions offer safety, comfort and longevity. They also ensure safe working heights for care givers. As equipment experts, Theraposture Trusted Assessors help therapists prescribe the correct and most appropriate solution. Once a bed or cot is supplied, there is a 14-day Suitability Guarantee period which ensures that product suitability is proven rather than hoped for. Therefore, the OT-designed assessment process from Theraposture is vitally important in delivering a positive outcome.
Shaun Masters, OT and Trusted Assessor, comments:
“Kidz Middle will once again provide an opportunity for professionals and parents to discuss individual bed needs with friendly and understanding Theraposture Trusted Assessors. Our clinical assessment process will be explained which involves a detailed written analysis of topics such as mobility, behaviour, sleep, posture, pressure care and feeding – which all signpost towards the most appropriate and considered solution.
The Theraposture Assessors have an unsurpassed level of experience in terms of which cot features assist with which paediatric conditions. Further to this, the range of product available from Theraposture is unrivalled.”
Theraposture will be demonstrating the Mascot Mk2 Care Cot, Home and Away bed and Theracare bed with safety sides. The Mascot is the only fully modular bed system that can be reconfigured to meet changing needs. The Mascot is the considered choice in power-assisted cot beds. Through its adaptable construction, it has the potential to negate the need to purchase new cots in the future as children grow or conditions develop – in effect, a cost-effective cot for life.
The recently launched Home and Away is a strong, heavily padded and portable bed that provides safety and comfort for children with enhanced behavioural challenges. This quality padded solution fully dismantles and can be easily transported in a standard car, making it ideal as an occasional specialist travel bed.

What’s on display at Kidz to Adultz Middle?
At Kidz to Adultz Middle, the popular assistive product and services exhibition provided by Disabled Living, Theraposture will be demonstrating its proven Mascot Mk2 cot and Theracare adjustable bed.
Mascot Mk2 cot
Theraposture Trusted Assessors with the Mascot Care Cot
The Mascot is the only, fully modular cot that can be adapted as a child’s needs change – hence negating the need to purchase a new product in the future.
This represents significant cost savings and ensures a space-appropriate design is provided throughout the lifetime of the child. The Mascot incorporates multiple future-proofed features in particular, it is the only fully modular care bed that will allow conversion from 4-door (1 side) opening to 8-door (opening both sides). This is essential if care needs progress and access is required to both sides of the cot.
The Mascot is available with variable height, mattress profiling and anti-/Trendelenburg functionality. If safety padding is required, Theraposture is renowned for handcrafting precision solutions so entrapment risks are eliminated – enhanced by the recent introduction of larger soft windows for greater visibility inside and out.
Shaun Masters, OT, will be on hand throughout Kidz Middle to discuss how therapists and families can make the considered choice of care cot. He will explain, from his experience, how the correct, future-proofed cot provides multiple benefits for the whole family. Shaun will be joined by fellow Theraposture Trusted Assessors and a representative from Newlife, the charity for disabled children – all ready to discuss individual requirements on a one-to-one basis.

Stand C4 will also include an example adjustable bed from the Theraposture Theracare range. Ideal for older children and young adults with less challenging or complex needs, this bed provides profiling and variable height along with an impressive range of specialist mattresses and accessories.

Showcasing a selection of paediatric products
Theraposture showcased a selection of paediatric products from its quality adjustable bed range including a high sided Hannah cot, Theracare Low adjustable bed and future proof Mascot cot. The electrically powered Mascot is the only variable height cot that provides complete flexibility as it can be adapted to suit changing needs. When a child grows and develops the Mascot can be reconfigured with different access options, door heights and design features – a cot for life that negates the need to purchase a new bed in the future.
This cost effective, future proof cot is the assured solution that provides a visually open space that is safe for children with challenging behaviour or specialist support needs. It can be specified with Theraposture’s precision-fitted padding and a choice of door inserts ranging from coloured rails to Perspex – all helping to provide a safe space that is not enclosed. The Mascot continues to make a huge difference to the well- being of disabled children whilst delivering peace of mind to parents – once again reiterated by families visiting Kidz-to- Adultz-Middle.
Engaging with families
The Theraposture Trusted Assessors were busy throughout the show explaining why the Mascot is the preferred choice for parents looking to give their child safety and reassurance. Several families who already own a Mascot visited the stand and reiterated this message as Liam Braddell, Theraposture Sales Director explains: “We were delighted to welcome so many existing and potential customers onto our stand at Kidz Middle this year – it was a lively and positive show as ever. Engaging face-to- face with families gives us the opportunity to hear about the latest challenges they face and how we can hopefully resolve them.”
Liam continues:
“Some parents and therapists have been told by their equipment services that providing a care cot can be difficult currently due to an argument regarding ‘deprivation of liberty’. This can lead to frustration for many professionals and families as often the recommended alternative can be a mattress at floor level within a padded environment. Many of the families and therapists we met at Kidz-to- Adultz felt this alternative was no different to sleeping in a safe and secure adjustable cot bed – apart from the obvious lack of manual handling assistance for parents and carers. Parents in particular found this alternative difficult to accept as they had often observed their children were clearly happier and contented when playing or sleeping in a Mascot through positive facial expressions and body language. Plus, parents could relax in the knowledge their child could not injury themselves when unsupervised at night.” Liam concludes: “From a practical point of view the height adjustable Mascot is also essential for parents as it provides safe working heights. It eliminates excessive bending or stooping when attending to children so potential back injury can be avoided. If mattress platform profiling is included in a Mascot a child can sleep with their head elevated which is essential when using a ventilator or being tube fed at night. All-in-all we know how good our Mascot is, however to hear such positive feedback from existing clients will enhance the faith OTs and families already place in our beds and cots.”
